Reports indicate that Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is on the verge of completing negotiations for a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2028.
Joelinton, who was acquired from German side Hoffenheim for a record-breaking fee of £40 million in July 2019, is set to commit his future to the Magpies for the long term.
Eddie Howe discovered a talented box-to-box midfielder in a crucial match against Norwich City in November 2021, prompting him to move Joelinton back after Ciaran Clark’s red card.
Since then, Newcastle and Joelinton have made significant progress, with the player becoming a key member of Howe’s starting lineup.
Despite speculation about his future and contract negotiations stalling, Joelinton’s contract is set to expire in 2025, and Newcastle is considering selling him to raise funds.
Howe acknowledged in January that Joelinton might be transferred during the upcoming summer transfer window.
