Liverpool have allegedly presented an initial proposal to secure the services of Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim once the current season concludes. Amorim is believed to be the preferred candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp, who is set to conclude his extensive tenure at Anfield.
Xabi Alonso was widely regarded as the top choice for the Reds’ management during their busy summer, but he has recently announced that he is not interested in the position.
As an alternative, Amorim is a highly regarded candidate who seems willing to leave Sporting, the team he has successfully led to the top of the Portuguese league this season. Interestingly, Chelsea has also entered the picture as they consider replacing Mauricio Pochettino, although it is expected that Amorim would prefer joining the Reds rather than the Blues.
Liverpool holds a more advantageous position compared to their competitors in the Premier League, as numerous reputable journalists have verified that discussions have occurred with the 39-year-old manager.
As per Foot Mercato, these discussions have progressed into an official offer. Journalists Pedro Sepulveda and Santi Aouna have stated that Liverpool presented an initial offer to Amorim’s agent on Monday, suggesting a three-year contract.
Amorim is resolute in his decision to transfer to Anfield and has a €20 million release clause, although reports indicate he has a ‘verbal agreement’ to depart for €10 million if a ‘top club’ expresses interest.
