Everton is set to demand more than £40million for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke, the Toffees are firm on their asking price for the 27-year-old forward.
Despite this, it is speculated that due to financial constraints, Everton may have to settle for a lower offer than initially anticipated.
The club recently reported significant losses of £89.1million from the previous season, which has resulted in penalties and potential sanctions for breaching financial regulations.
With the deadline for filing financial accounts approaching, Everton may be compelled to offload players to balance their books and avoid further repercussions.
As a result, Calvert-Lewin could be sold for less than the desired £40million fee in order to meet financial obligations before the deadline.
Everton may need to offload a few of their top players before the end of June in order to maintain financial stability.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has faced challenges with his performance this season despite scoring three goals in his initial seven Premier League matches.
Nonetheless, he managed to find the back of the net in the last two games – converting an 88th-minute penalty to secure a draw against Newcastle United on Tuesday (2 April) and scoring the winning goal against Burnley on Saturday (6 April).
