Inter Milan is poised to secure the services of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski on a free transfer, as confirmed by various sources within Italy. Zielinski is expected to make the move to Inter upon the expiration of his contract with Napoli at the culmination of the current season.
During a discussion on DAZN, former Serie A players Alessandro Matri, Riccardo Montolivo, and Marco Parolo engaged in deliberation regarding Zielinski’s prospective role within Inter’s midfield, widely regarded as one of the strongest in the league.
Montolivo expressed his conviction that Inter has secured a valuable addition in Zielinski, describing him as a “regular starter” of considerable prowess. In contrast, Matri posited a differing viewpoint, contending that Inter’s midfield positions are adequately filled by Mkhitaryan and Frattesi. Parolo, however, maintained that regardless of manager Simone Inzaghi’s selections for the 2024-25 season, Inter’s acquisition of Zielinski, particularly on a free transfer basis, was a prudent decision.
Zielinski, currently 29 years of age, has tallied three goals in 26 Serie A appearances for Napoli this season, notably including a strike in a 4-2 victory against Monza at the U-Power Stadium.
The Polish international initially joined Napoli from Udinese in 2016 for a fee of €16 million.
