Leicester City is reportedly in the running to secure the services of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for the Gunners this season, making 34 appearances across all competitions and contributing with six goals and three assists.
Despite signing a contract extension with Arsenal until 2027, Nketiah is expected to seek more playing time elsewhere. Leicester is not the only club interested in the Englishman, as Crystal Palace and Brentford are also said to be monitoring his situation.
With Jamie Vardy’s future uncertain, the Foxes see Nketiah as a potential replacement and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of a potential return to the Premier League next season.
Nketiah joined Arsenal in 2015 and made his way to the first team in 2017. He has played 165 games for the Gunners, scoring 38 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions.
During the 2019-20 season, Nketiah had a loan stint at Leeds United where he scored five goals and assisted once in 19 appearances. Apart from that, he has been a consistent presence at the Emirates Stadium.
In the Champions League, Nketiah has scored once in five matches, while in the Premier League, he has netted 19 goals and contributed five assists in 114 games.
This season, the English forward has scored five goals in the Premier League, with three of them coming in a single game against Sheffield United in late October. However, he has not found the back of the net in the league since that match.
It seems likely that Nketiah will be seeking a move this summer, with Leicester City emerging as a potential destination if they secure promotion to the Premier League.
