Former midfielder Mesut Ozil, who retired in March last year, recently posted a video on social media that has left fans shocked by his new appearance.
The former Arsenal and Real Madrid star ended his football career at the age of 34 just over a year ago. He has since decided to shift his focus towards enhancing his physical strength and updating fans on his transformation process.
Ozil’s rigorous training regimen has even impressed superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in recent months. His most recent video upload on social media has earned him the moniker “beast” from viewers.
The clip reveals a slim Ozil, once a footballer, replaced by a muscular figure wearing gym attire and lifting 50kg weights with each hand.
The World Cup champion has been included in Germany’s squad for an upcoming tournament for players over 35, set to be held in England this summer. Ozil’s potential teammates for the aforementioned tournament include former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira and former Schalke forward Kevin Kuranyi.
During his eight-year tenure at Arsenal, Ozil made over 250 appearances across all competitions after joining from Real Madrid for £42.5 million in the summer of 2013. He won 4 FA Cups during his time in North London and provided 19 assists for the Gunners in the 2015/16 Premier League season, which remains a club record.
