Jack Wilshere, the manager of Arsenal’s Under-18s team, has expressed his admiration for 14-year-old talent Max Dowman, stating that the club is optimistic about his potential to quickly progress to the first-team.
Dowman’s impressive performance in Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Fulham, where he contributed to four goals, has further solidified his position as a contender for the senior squad.
Wilshere, who returned to the club as a coach in 2022 following his retirement from playing, emphasized the importance of age not being a barrier if a player possesses the necessary skills.
While acknowledging that Dowman still has room for improvement in terms of consistency, Wilshere highlighted that the young midfielder is only 14 years old and has yet to begin his GCSE exams.
