According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode is being considered as one of Inter’s primary candidates to potentially succeed Denzel Dumfries, provided the Dutch wing-back does not commit to a contract extension. Dumfries’ existing contract with Inter is set to expire in June 2025, and negotiations for a new agreement have been temporarily halted.
The report from Gazzetta confirms that if Dumfries does not agree to an extension, he will depart Inter in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Fiorentina’s Kayode positioned among the main targets on the Nerazzurri’s transfer agenda. Inter has conducted multiple scouting sessions on Kayode throughout the current season and is preparing for discussions with the defender’s representatives.
Although Kayode has also attracted interest from Arsenal as a potential transfer target, he recently prolonged his commitment to Fiorentina, extending his contract until June 2028. The promising right-back, who notably clinched victory for Italy U19 in the European Championship Final against Portugal last summer, presently earns €400,000 per annum. However, his earnings are expected to escalate to €1 million in the final year of his tenure at the Stadio Franchi.
