According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Youssouf Fofana, the midfielder from Monaco, emerges as one of AC Milan’s prospective acquisitions for the upcoming summer transfer window. Given that Fofana’s contractual obligations are set to conclude in 2025, the potential acquisition could be secured at a comparatively modest expense.
AC Milan, in their preparations for the 2024-25 season, are strategically targeting a reinforcement in the central midfield position. Speculation has already linked them with Khephren Thuram, sibling of Marcus Thuram, presently contracted with OGC Nice.
As per Gazzetta’s information, another contender from the French Ligue 1, namely Fofana from Monaco, has piqued the interest of AC Milan’s recruitment agenda.
At 25 years of age, Fofana’s contract is slated to expire in June 2025, prompting AC Milan to pursue the French international with an eye toward securing his services at a favorable valuation.
This strategic approach echoes AC Milan’s previous successful endeavors, notably in the signings of Christian Pulisic from Chelsea and Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal a year ago. In both instances, AC Milan capitalized on the final year of the players’ contracts, persuading their respective clubs to negotiate transfers valued at approximately €20 million each, rather than risk losing them on a free transfer the subsequent season.
In the current campaign, Fofana has demonstrated his prowess with two goals and three assists in 27 appearances across various competitions.
