Romelu Lukaku – Belgium
Lukaku has surpassed the previous 13-goal record set by David Healy from Northern Ireland and Robert Lewandowski from Poland, solidifying his position as Belgium’s top scorer of all time.
At the age of 30, he has now climbed to the eighth position among the highest-scoring male players in the history of international football, having netted an impressive 83 goals for the Red Devils.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo might be approaching his 40th birthday but the evergreen icon remains one of the best goalscorers in the game.
Ronaldo scored 10 goals as Portugal produced a perfect record in qualification, winning all 10 fixtures and scoring 36 times in the process.
The 39-year-old holds the records for most European Championship goals in qualification (41) and in the tournament itself (14) and is, incredibly, preparing for a record-extending sixth Euros this summer.
He has scored in each of his previous five appearances and will surpass Ivica Vastić as the oldest goalscorer at a European Championship with a goal this summer. Portugal – who have impressed under head coach Roberto Martinez – will face Georgia, the Czech Republic and Turkey in the group stage.
Harry Kane – England
England clinched a smooth qualification to Euro 2024 by finishing first in Group C, ahead of Italy. They scored 22 goals and only conceded four in their eight qualifying matches.
Harry Kane netted eight goals for the Three Lions, one of which was a penalty against Italy in March 2023. This goal allowed him to surpass Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The 30-year-old striker will play a vital role in England’s quest for a long-awaited tournament victory this summer. With a total of 62 goals in 89 appearances for the national team, Kane’s scoring record speaks for itself.
Ramus Hojlund – Denmark
In the Euro 2024 qualification, Rasmus Hojlund made a remarkable entrance onto the global stage, showcasing his talents during his first appearance for Denmark. He left a lasting impression by scoring a hat-trick against Finland.
Throughout the qualification matches, the young 21-year-old continued to shine, netting additional goals against Kazakhstan (2), Slovenia, and San Marino. Denmark’s impressive performance led them to secure the top spot in Group H, granting them a place in the tournament.
As the tournament progresses, the talented forward from Manchester United will face formidable opponents such as England, Slovenia, and Serbia in the group stage of Euro 2024.
Scott McTominay – Scotland
Scotland is poised to participate in their second consecutive European Championship, largely due to Scott McTominay’s exceptional performance. The Manchester United midfielder is currently experiencing the most successful goal-scoring season of his career at the club level and has been consistently impressive for Scotland over the past year.
McTominay kicked off the qualification phase with a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory against Cyprus at Hampden Park, followed by another brace in a surprising triumph over Spain at the same venue three days later.
Despite scoring only once in his initial 37 matches for Scotland, the 27-year-old has now scored seven goals in his last 12 appearances. His seven goals during the qualifying matches made him the top scorer in Group A, surpassing Erling Haaland’s six goals.
