Jean-Clair Todibo has made a strong impression since his return to France with Nice in 2021, following a two-year stint at Barcelona.
Todibo has played a key role in Nice’s solid defense, which has only conceded 20 goals this season, making them the toughest defense in Ligue 1.
The 24-year-old has formed a reliable partnership with experienced Brazilian defender Dante, and his performances have attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
Manchester United and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in bolstering their defense this summer, and Todibo could be a suitable option for them.
Manchester United may have an advantage in signing Todibo due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s connections with both United and Nice, but it could also be seen as questionable for Ratcliffe to raid Nice so soon after his recent minority purchase of United.
Last year, it was expected that Todibo would stay in Ligue 1 for another season, but this summer could be the right time for him to make another move away from his home country.
However, any future transfer would involve Barcelona receiving a percentage of the final transfer fee, as per their agreement with Nice.
Todibo has made 25 appearances for Nice across all competitions this season, contributing to the team’s fifth-place position and their chance to qualify for European competitions next season.
His impressive performances at the club level earned him a call-up to the France senior squad in late 2023, where he made his debut against Germany and also played in the 14-0 victory over Gibraltar the following month.
Todibo was not included in Didier Deschamps’ recent squad for the matches against Germany and Chile.
