According to Spanish publication Relevo, two scouts from Manchester United recently reached out to the representatives of Espanyol’s striker to gather information about his current situation.
Joselu, aged 34, is presently on loan at Real Madrid and it is believed that his main objective for the upcoming summer is to continue playing in the Spanish capital. He has recorded 13 goals and 3 assists in 38 matches.
Having gained significant experience in the Premier League with Newcastle and Stoke City, along with possessing a strong physique, good hold-up play, and a keen eye for goal, Mato is reportedly being considered by Old Trafford. In his 68 appearances in the Premier League, Joselu has scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists, combining his time at Newcastle and Stoke.
Real Madrid secured Joselu’s loan deal from Espanyol for €500k last summer following Espanyol’s relegation to the second division of Spanish football. There exists an option to make the loan permanent for €1.5m this summer.
Manchester United will be left with only one recognized center forward once Anthony Martial’s contract expires in the summer. Therefore, it is imperative for the club to sign a striker to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund or serve as a reliable backup option on the bench.
