Cristiano Ronaldo recently showcased his latest acquisition, a Ferrari Daytona SP3 valued at £2 million, as the Portuguese star expands his supercar collection. CR7 returned to his homeland to join the Portuguese national team after missing the final friendly match against Sweden and commenced Tuesday’s match away to Slovenia.
While in his native country, he exhibited his new Ferrari at the Four Seasons hotel before joining his national team colleagues. A video clip of the event was posted on Instagram, with an account named Lisbon Cars providing commentary, dubbing the vehicle as “CR7’s latest spacecraft.”
The newly acquired car, reported to be worth €2 million, adds to his lavish car collection, which was reported last year to have a total value of £18 million, excluding recent purchases.
The 39-year-old superstar was seen cruising the streets of Portugal in his new model, powered by Ferrari’s most potent internal combustion engine to date. It generates 840 horsepower and 697 Nm of torque, reaching a top speed of 340 km/h. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds.
Ronaldo’s passion for cars nearly led to a serious injury in 2009 when he crashed and damaged a £200,000 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano just days before Manchester United faced Chelsea, fortunately escaping unscathed.
Ronaldo sat out during Portugal’s match against Sweden, but his absence didn’t hinder coach Roberto Martinez’s winning streak of 11 consecutive matches since taking charge, as they defeated Sweden 5-2.
While the new coach has demonstrated his ability to work with the Portuguese national team with or without Ronaldo’s influence, he was immediately included in the lineup for their friendly match in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Unfortunately, Portugal suffered a 0-2 defeat to Slovenia, despite Ronaldo’s entrance in the second half and his two shots out of a total of 10 attempts by the team. Ronaldo showed frustration as the team’s 11-match winning streak came to an end, but Coach Martinez remained calm, focusing on experimenting with the team lineup ahead of Euro 2024.
In the tournament in Germany, Portugal will face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and the winner of the final qualifying match on Tuesday between Georgia and Greece, a team that found itself in turmoil with a series of on-pitch brawls.
