John Obi Mikel’s transfer to Chelsea in June 2006.
Manchester united snapped a transfer for the then 18 year old teenager from Lyn Oslo for a reported fee of 4 mil GBP. He was also seen holding the no. 21 shirt at a press conference. However, Chelsea claimed that they helped Mikel in moving to Europe and an agreement for a transfer with his agent was made. Both the clubs filed a complaint with FIFA but chelsea volunteered a negotiation with United and Lyn Oslo agreeing to pay 12 mil GBP to Manchester United and 4 mil GBP to Lyn.
In these set of events, Mikel went missing during a Norwegian cup game with reports claiming him to be kidnapped. United accused chelsea for being invlolved.
Julien Faubert’s Loan spell at Real Madrid.
It took every one by surprise when Junde Ramos, (Real Madrid’s manager in 2009) opted to buy the wingback on a loan with an option to buy him.
Faubert’s five months at the Bernabeu went exactly how one’d expect: He made just two appearances, missed training once after mistakenly thinking he’d been given the day off and capped things off by famously falling asleep on the substitute’s bench during a game against Villarreal.
