Manchester United is reportedly considering the acquisition of a player earning an “extraordinary” weekly wage of £148,000, potentially securing his services on a free transfer during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Man Utd transfer news
Sir Jim Ratcliffe appears to be quite occupied since becoming a part owner of the Red Devils earlier this year, with numerous matters to attend to both on and off the pitch.
To begin with, he must determine whether Erik ten Hag is the appropriate manager to lead the team beyond the summer. If not, finding a suitable successor becomes imperative, with reports suggesting Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou could be a viable option. Meanwhile, Manchester United are aggressively pursuing Dan Ashworth to fill the role of sporting director, with the Englishman presently on gardening leave from his position at Newcastle United.
Transfers are also a pressing concern, with a multitude of rumors circulating regarding potential acquisitions for the club. United aims to close the gap between themselves and the top teams in the Premier League, such as Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
Among the speculated targets is Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, who is reportedly sought after by several English clubs, including the Red Devils. Additionally, Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has emerged as a potential acquisition for United.
Weston McKennie, another Juventus player, has been linked with a summer move to United, despite his lackluster performance in the Premier League during his loan spell at Leeds United last season.
Man Utd chasing “extraordinary” ace
According to a report from Caught Offside, Manchester United is reportedly considering the possibility of acquiring Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer during the upcoming summer transfer window, coinciding with the expiration of his current contract.
The report suggests that Rabiot, who currently earns £148,000 per week, is being viewed as a cost-effective option due to his impending contract expiry, serving as an alternative to the highly-regarded Benfica youngster Joao Neves. Rabiot has long been on United’s radar, having been linked with a move to Old Trafford on multiple occasions in the past, making his potential inclusion in the team’s restructuring plans for the summer seem plausible.
Despite approaching his 29th birthday next month, Rabiot may not necessarily be viewed as a long-term solution in the midfield. However, he still offers a younger and more dynamic option compared to players like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. Former French international David Trezeguet has previously spoken highly of Rabiot, praising his qualities on the field.
