On Instagram, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a photo of his training session with the Portuguese national team ahead of their friendly match against Slovenia.
Following their 5-2 victory over Sweden, Coach Martinez has allowed 8 key players from the Portuguese national team to return to their clubs early. These players include Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Palhinha, Nelson Semedo, Toti Gomes, Rafael Leao, Bruno Fernandes, and Goncalo Ramos.
In addition, Coach Martinez has also called up new players to supplement the squad in preparation for the upcoming friendly match against Slovenia early on Wednesday morning (March 27th).
Notable stars likely to feature in Portugal’s lineup for this match include Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, Joao Felix, and team captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Previously, Coach Martinez had given Ronaldo and these stars permission to rest during the friendly match against Sweden. According to ESPN, Ronaldo wanted a short break with his family in Saudi Arabia since the Saudi Pro League was on pause, so he actively requested not to play in the match against Sweden.
On his personal Instagram page, CR7 has just posted a photo of himself training with his teammates in Portugal and subtly flaunting his famous muscular thighs.
With Ronaldo’s return, Bruma will have to choose a different shirt number for the Slovenia match. Previously, Bruma became the first player to wear the number 7 shirt for the Seleccao since Ronaldo in 2007, and he scored a goal in the victory over Sweden.
Facing the weaker team of Slovenia is an opportunity for Ronaldo to increase his international goal-scoring record. So far, CR7 has worn the national team jersey 205 times and scored 128 goals. Additionally, Ronaldo is determined to perform at his best in the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament held in Germany. According to the draw results, Portugal is placed in a group with the Czech Republic, Turkey, and the winner of the playoff match.
