Juventus is reportedly contemplating the extension of Carlos Alcaraz’s loan from Southampton for an additional season, particularly if Southampton does not achieve promotion to the Premier League. Alcaraz, who joined Juventus on a temporary basis with an option to buy during the January transfer window, has made four Serie A appearances to date, starting in one match. Although he is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, he is expected to return to action after the break.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus appreciates Alcaraz’s contributions but finds the cost of a permanent transfer—€49.5 million—to be excessively steep. Consequently, Juventus may propose to Southampton the extension of Alcaraz’s loan until the end of the 2024-25 season.
While this scenario is not yet definitive, Juventus plans to explore this option at the season’s end, especially if Southampton remains outside the Premier League. Southampton is currently positioned fourth in the Championship, nine points behind Leicester City but with a game in hand, which could influence their promotion prospects and, by extension, Alcaraz’s future with Juventus.
