Barcelona has initiated preparations aimed at securing the future prospects of its young talents. In accordance with this objective, Mundo Deportivo has reported that the Catalan team has commenced negotiations to extend the contracts of Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu.
Both Cubarsi and Fort, aged 17, have garnered significant attention for their prowess on the football field, despite their youth. The notable progress they have demonstrated has attracted interest from several other clubs. However, Barcelona remains composed and assertive in their commitment to retaining these talents within the club.
Recognizing the importance of proactive measures, Barcelona acknowledges the imperative of taking action to safeguard the future of these promising players.
Additionally, discussions are underway with Guiu, whose current contract is set to expire in June 2025. Barcelona views Guiu as a valuable asset in the forward position and seeks to prolong his tenure with the club.
Negotiations are necessary
It is imperative to note that the contractual agreements of Cubarsi and Fort with Barcelona extend until 2026 and 2025, respectively. Both contracts incorporate release clauses set at approximately €10 million, which were established upon their initial professional contract signings subsequent to their attainment of 16 years of age.
Upon reaching the age of 18, these contracts become subject to renegotiation, with Barcelona presently initiating steps in this direction. Although there exists a growing sense of optimism regarding this process, it is acknowledged that the players are not currently inclined towards expeditiously extending their contracts.
Fort, born in August 2006, commenced his association with Barcelona in November 2022 by executing a three-year youth contract. Conversely, Cubarsi entered into his contractual agreement with the club in July 2023.
Before contemplating renewal terms with Barcelona, Chelsea expressed interest in acquiring Cubarsi, aiming to mitigate their defensive deficiencies. However, neither Barcelona nor the player exhibit interest in facilitating such a departure.
In parallel, negotiations are ongoing concerning Guiu, whose contractual term is also slated to expire in 2025. The 18-year-old forward is presently engaged in discussions with the club.
Finally, Marc Casado’s contractual arrangement with Barcelona concludes this summer. However, the club retains the prerogative to extend it for an additional year, with the final decision resting with Deco.
