Bayern Munich is presently not anticipated to exercise their buy-back option for highly sought-after Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, as reported by Sky Sport in Germany. Zirkzee, who is still being monitored by three Serie A clubs – Milan, Inter, and Juventus, moved to Bologna from Bayern in the summer of 2022 for a purported fee of €8.5m plus add-ons. This transfer deal encompassed both sell-on and buy-back clauses.
Approaching the conclusion of an impressive 2023-24 season, during which Zirkzee ascended to the summit of Bologna’s scoring leaderboard amid a contention for Champions League qualification, the Dutchman is purportedly drawing interest from several clubs across Europe.
However, as per Sky Sport DE, Bayern currently exhibits limited interest in reacquiring Zirkzee to the Allianz Arena, citing a sufficient performance from Harry Kane and Mathys Tel.
Although Bayern could potentially trigger Zirkzee’s release clause for €40m, the current satisfactory performance of Kane and Tel has mitigated the necessity to do so.
Nevertheless, Milan, Inter, and Juventus persist in their interest, as reported by Sky, alongside various Premier League teams, including Manchester United, according to other sources.
Following an injury sustained during Bologna’s 1-0 defeat to Inter in Serie A on Saturday, Zirkzee is slated for a period of absence estimated at around three to four weeks.
