Paris Saint-Germain is set to enhance their midfield contingent during the upcoming summer transfer window, with several potential targets emerging in recent months. Among the latest prospects under consideration by the Parisian club is Alan Varela from FC Porto.
Recent developments have seen the Argentine midfielder garner attention from PSG. A report by A Bola (referenced via Le10Sport) indicates that PSG has been closely observing the 22-year-old in recent days. However, negotiations with Porto appear unlikely as the Portuguese club is not inclined to entertain offers.
According to the report, Porto is adamant that any potential suitors must meet Varela’s release clause, set at €70 million. Additionally, PSG faces competition from other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, who have expressed interest in securing the services of the talented midfielder.
Liverpool, in particular, views Varela as a pivotal target as they seek to reinforce their midfield options. Notably, the Premier League side significantly revamped their midfield roster last summer with the acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
