Bologna Football Club has officially announced that their striker, Joshua Zirkzee, has sustained a muscular injury, rendering him unavailable for competition for a duration of three to four weeks. The injury occurred during Bologna’s recent match against Inter, where Zirkzee was substituted off due to the ailment and subsequently underwent medical evaluation on the following Monday.
According to a statement released by the club, Zirkzee has been diagnosed with a first-degree lesion in the left femoral bicep, with an anticipated recovery period spanning three to four weeks. This prognosis comes after thorough medical assessment.
Throughout the current Serie A campaign, Zirkzee has been a pivotal figure for Bologna, tallying 10 goals in 27 league appearances. His contributions have been significant to the team’s performance.
Despite ongoing speculation linking Zirkzee with potential transfers to prominent clubs such as Milan, Arsenal, and Manchester United for the forthcoming season, Bologna’s director, Claudio Fenucci, has recently affirmed the club’s desire to retain the player’s services beyond the summer transfer window.
Moreover, it is noted that Bayern Munich retains an option to repurchase Zirkzee in the upcoming transfer window for a fee of €40 million.
Bologna’s upcoming fixture is scheduled to be an away match against Empoli, set to take place next Saturday.
